  • Visitor Visa Rejected - Options

    Hi,
My mother-in-law and brother-in-law applied for a visitor visa (B2) as they want to visit us to help us with our baby situation. My mother-in-law is a widow aged 65, bro-in-law is 32 and runs his own business. During the application filing, we mentioned that they will be sponsoring their trip on their own and they had the documentation to prove they had the needed funds.

VC: Why do you want to go to USA?
We: Because my daughter needs help with the baby situation.

    VC: Where does she live?
    We: X city

VC: What do you do here?
We: we told them mother is house maker and brother owns his own business. (no proof asked).

VC: What about her husband (his father)
    We: He passed away.

    VC: What did he do?
    We: X job.

VC: How many siblings and where are they?
We: 3, 1 is in USA (The one we are visiting) 1 lives in Australia and 1 lives here in Pakistan.

VC: We are sorry, you are not eligible for the visa at this time, please try again.

Now, we were wondering if we apply just for our mother in law (we are thinking applying for bro in law impacted their both application) and we send our sponsorship affidavit. We are not sure what else to change to show her ties with her homeland, she has her own house there, her 2 children, grandchildren, her siblings and extended family. The only one in USA is her daughter.

    Any suggestions?

Your mother-in-law's visa was rejected based on the very first answer that she is going to help her daughter with the baby situation. That is absolute cause for denial because visitor visa is for tourism and not for baby sitting. One should NEVER tell baby-sitting as a reason to visit, major mistake. I am not trying to discourage you but I doubt your mother-in-law will ever get a visa now.

I think you can apply again, after couple of years, when your new born doesn't need a baby-sitter.

we applied for her visa again and this time it got accepted.
In case anyone else has a similar case, don't be discouraged and try again. there is a fair chance it will get approved.
This time we applied only for our mother in law.
