Hi,
My mother-in-law visited US from January 1st 2016 till June 18th 2016. She stayed 5 1/2 months.
She again came to US on September 22nd 2016. At the immigration in Newark, officer told that she is traveling frequently and he can permit her only for 3 months.. He mentioned that she has to return back to India before January 1st 2017. However, my mother-in-law has requested him for more time. On the passport arrival stamp, he has written the date as permit until "January 1st 2017" and "Time Needed".
When we checked I-94 online, the expiry date shows as March 21st, 2017.
Now we are not sure if we have to follow what is written on arrival stamp (January 1st, 2017) or I-94 expiry date (March 21st, 2017).
Please help and advise.
Thanks
Janani
