    hi,

    My son has invited me and my wife to usa for witnessing his graduate walk.The situation is as follows

    My son has been hired for dell recenlty but his visa status is still F1 and we have mentioned in the ds-156 form that we are sponsoring ourselves.now what should we be answering the visa consular officer if he asks what is ur son doing in us?should we mention the fact that he is working for OPT(optional placement Training).Someone pls help us our visa date is fast approaching

    It is always better to have your son send some info about his job and bank statements to show that he has money in USA to support you for your days in USA.
    Your son can contact the school's International Advicer and get a letter from them. They provide invitation letter for graduation which you can show the visa officer.
    He can fax you the employment offer letter sent by Dell and also his bank statement showing a min. of 5000$ in his account.
    Also, mention in all your application that you will be visiting USA only for 2 months.
    Since you are sponsoring yourself, please make a Auditor Statement showing all your property details, Bank Balances/ FD's, Income per annum, Jewellery etc...
    Yes, mention to the officer that your son is working on his OPT and show him the offer letter.

      as suggested below we will be telling the visa officer that he is under OPT.but what should we answer if he asks us when would ur son come back?????????????????????

        Its been over a week since i have posted my query but no one has responded to my query till now. i wonder whether there is any particular way to obtain an answer other than this.if this is the case pls tell me that way.
