  • VO taken passport, but didn't say visa was approved

Just finished an interview today in the us consulate in hk.
As I have a spent criminal record, I provided a criminal record summary to the VO.
He took my passport and said he needed to do some research on this situation.
He also said he's not sure whether the visa or waiver is granted or not. The waiting time is varied.

As I have applied for the B2 four years ago, but it entered into the black hole of "AP". I didn't get any news from them therefore I didn't follow up or update with that. So, I applied a new application this time... he didn't take my passport last time, but he took it this time... so does it mean I have a hope/chance on getting the visa???
How long does it take to get back from them??

    Thanks.

It's difficult to figured it out for your visa approval or denial based on VO took your passport. It varies. Most administrative processing resolved within 60days of your interview. However, Some cases may take longer, depending upon circumstances of your case.
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

jnk, thanks for your reply and taking your time to read my case...

Just got the passport back as they called me to collect it . I was told to get a criminal conviction from the police. After that, they would review my case.....
I have actually done this before. they said they would contact me by phone, but I didn't. I knew I couldn't make it to the expected date of travel so I stopped emailing or kept track on the progress... this case was in 2012...it's still under "AP"... even though I emailed them, they said my waiver was denied... (if so, how come they don't change the status?!?) that's really confusing... that passport has expired already...

Anyway, I know the chance for me of getting a waiver is very slim...(maybe it's because of my last application... or just my instinct saying so.... )
Last applocation: interview on 1 Jun 2012
      Updated date : 10 Dec 2012
Expected date of travel Nov 2012
      It took six months :S
      This time:
      Interview on 29 Nov 2016
      Updated date 29 Nov 2016
Expected date of travel mar 2017

I don't have much time ... if I knew I needed a visa, I would have applied long time ago or I wouldn't have bought the flight ticket...
