coming with a tourist visa the year after my q1 visa

Hello everybody,

I am French and I was working in the state as a teacher on a q1 visa from August 2015 to July 2016. The q1 says that you need to go back to your country for a year after it, before coming back but i need to visit some friends in january for a week. Is that going to be an issue if i come with the ESTA just for a week?

Thank you for your answer. So I cannot go to the states even as a tourist for a whole year? I m making sure because that sounds kinda crazy. Can i ask how you can be so sure about it?
