Stay in US on B2 Visa

Hi All,

I am currently staying in US on L1 visa and the visa is about to expire on Sep 2017. I am currently planning to invite my dad who has a B2 approved Visa valid till 2026.

Question:
How long would my Dad can stay with Me in US, if I invite him in the Month of 01- June-2017. Can he stay for a period of 6 Months or he has to travel back prior to My L1 Visa expiration Date (Sep 2017).

I do understand the duration of stay can be upto 6 months in a year. However, in my case would the stay be granted by USCIS based on my Visa expiration Date or up to a maximum period of 6 months ?

The duration for which your father can stay has nothing to do with when your visa expires.

It would be up to the immigration officer at the port of entry (such as airport) to decide the I-94 duration. Generally, it is 6 months.
