docuuments req for self sponsered visitor visa

Hi immi

My husband is on h1 visa.My mother has interview date in May at calcutta consulate.She will be sponsoring her own visit.She has her set of visitor related documents.
As we are not sponsoring the visit..are we required to provide any docments from our end.If yes,kindly provide details w.r.t to name and contents of the documents.

I think u need to provide invitation letter, copy of ur visa, birth cert. ?

Self / Sponsor

Which has better chances of going through - Self / Sponsor? We recently came to US and my doesn't have a strong bank balance to show - the main reason behind going ahead with Self.

If one can afford it, one should always self-finance the trip. This shows one's
financial ties to home country to the visa officer and that one is not dependent on one's relatives in US and thus is not likely
to stay back in the US with their help. So the chances of getting the visa
improve.

Docs reqd for self-sponsored Visitor Visa

I dont think invitation letter is required .. We just have to produce the birth certificate/marriage certificate and VISA...Please confirm .
