  • Will travel to Belize result in a new I-94

    Hi,

I am currently in the USA traveling on the Visa Waiver Program. I am here for business meetings with customers, to investigate investment opportunities and research office facilities for my European based company. All the stuff you can do on a I-94/WB.

I arrived on Dec. 8, 2016 and my I-94 has a latest departure date of March 7, 2017. My original plan was to go back to Europe in February for a couple of weeks and then return to continue the above activities. I know that this will give me a new I-94 with a new +90 days departure date.

I have been invited to Belize and would like to know, if going there for a week or long weekend trip, will result in resetting my I-94. Meaning, will they register me as having left the country when I leave Houston to fly to Belize and will I be issued a new I-94 when I return to Houston from Belize a week (or less) later with a new 90 day limit?

I have been told that traveling to Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean will not result in a new I-94. Will travel to Belize count as having left the USA and get me a new I-94?

    Thanks for your help.

Most likely Yes. But there is no guarantee.
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

Technically, yes it will reset the 90 days. Belize is not Canada, Mexico, or an adjacent island. That doesn't mean you will necessarily be allowed in though.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
