Common interview for J1 Visa & B2 Visa applicant?

I am being sponsored by my employer for On-The Job Training on J1 Visa. The training in US is for 3.5 months.
My wife is a professional and she is applying for B1/B2 Visitor Visa to accompany me for 1st month in US. Post which, she plans to return to India, resuming her work (shee too has a job). Note that, I am not applying for J2 Visa for her.

Can we both appear for the interview at the same time i.e can we have a common interview?
Or is it recommended that my wife schedules her appointment after I get my J1 Visa?

You can't attend the visa interview together. Your wife should schedule her appointment after your visa approval.
