  • Senior Citizen B2 Application

Hello there just wanted to ask few questions for my sister, she is a senior on her 60's she will be applying for B2 visa coming from the Philippines. She have travelled before to Australia but that was long time ago.
I wanted her to come to visit me here in the US and since she is already getting old I really wanted her to see the US.
Should I also back her up with an invitation letter. I am a US citizen and been here in the US for 19 years. Some people told me it might be easy for her to get approved since she is a senior. Also if they asked for money she can show bank statements and she has money to travel. My question is since visa is good for 6 mos. I wanted her to stay that full 6 mos. should she say that to the consul or just say 3 mos. Do they stamped your passport for how long you can stay based on what you said. What would be the best answer as far as purpose of the visit tourism or just visitation of family member. Or should she say since she is getting old she wanted to see the America before she can't travel anymore like healthwise.
Any advice will be appreciated also last one from the time of the application how long is the wait for the interview date?

Just because she is senior does not mean it is easy to get approved. If she has insufficient income or weak ties to her home country it will be hard. She should show her bank statement and other assets and monthly income statements. A visa if granted is for 10 years (not 6 months). Once she visits US the immigration officer determines how long she can stay in US in that trip and generally it is 6 months and she can stay for that long but it s better to make is a little shorter. Just say tourism.
