hi everyone
can anyone tell me how long does it take to get visa after the appointment if u r granted a visa.
i mean do u get the passport on same day itself of after 2-3 days . do they courier it or can v collect it personally?

In Chennai they have the option of in person pick up before 4pm else it will be couriered. Courier can take upto a week depending on when your interview is.

My parents wouldn't pick it up the same day as they had their appt at 3:45pm and then the followings days the Consulate was closed due to long weekend. So they recieved their passports 6 days after the appt.

But I believe the in-person pickup is available only after the consulate transfer the passport to VFS. In other words it won't be available for pickup on the same day as interview...in chennai

My parents have the appointment on Friday 8.30a.m. If they got the visa can they pick up the passport from the VFS office on the same day between 2-4p.m.? If not, when do we expect the passport by mail? Saturday and Sunday are holidays even though VFS will they dispatch the passports?

u won't get it on the same day. takes 2-5 business days..

In Chennai, those who granted visa and if they don't pick up passport before 4PM on the visa issuance day, it will be couriered to the designated center.

you both are mentioning two different options. My parents are attending at chennai consulate. Are the passports dispaching from the VFS office at chennai (near consulate) after 4p.m.

as far as i know, u won't get passport on the same day of ur interview. It takes 1-3 days for the passport to be ready to be dispatched. WHen the passport is ready to be dispatched, it can be picked up by person on that day before 4.00PM.. if not picked up, it will be couriered..

Raj is correct. My MIL attended the interview on thursday and she received her passport on the next tuesday.
