  • Visitor visa for sister after parents have applied for immigrant visa

Last year, my parents applied for visitor visas to come to the US from Peru, but the visas were denied. They were told that they didn't have sufficient ties back to their country. We are now in the process of getting immigrant visas for them, even though they weren't initially planning on immigrating to the US, since there didn't seem to be any other way they could come and visit us and our new baby. They had talked about eventually immigrating to the US, just not yet.

I have a sister who would like to come visit us. She is single and in college. Should we try to get a visitor visa for her, or will they just deny that as well? We have thought about trying to get a student visa for her, but she isn't able to pass the TOEFL yet.

Not really anything to do with you, if she wants to apply and find out that is up to her.

Obviously depends on her situation as to whether she will get one, you have not mentioned anything positive.

Your sister is and will be considered a high immigration risk just as your parents were considered high immigration risks and clearly for good reason. She is young, has no strong ties to home country, and her sister lives in the U.S. and is in the process of assisting her parents with immigrating here. Her chances for approval would be very very slim.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
