Re-entry before the "admit until" date on I-94

Hello,

If someone enters the US with a B2 visa and is granted a 6-month stay in the I-94, but returns to her home country before this date, can the person re-enter the country before the "admit until" date stamped on the I-94?
To make things simple: I visited the US in December, got an I-94 valid until June, but returned to my country in January. Can I come back to the US in May, or should I wait until the expiration of the I-94?

Once they left the US, the previous stay's I-94 is no longer relevant to anything. They can go to the US at any time on or before the expiration date of the visa to seek entry, and they will be admitted anew on the basis of the visa.
