Transit Visa Requirement in London , travelling to USA from India

Hi,

I want my mother to come to the USA and she has a US visa valid for another 5 years almost. I am wondering if its possible for her to get a transit visa in London so she can stay there for a couple of days and then continue her onward journey to the USA. Is anyone aware of the process ?
