Guys,
My parents got Visa at the first attempt.. they were amazed to the hospitality at the chennai consulate( April 4th)
They reached just half an hour earlier at the consulate and then there was the security check. During the security check, the personnel were very polite..
Then they checked the documents. took the receipts of HDFC bank... and told them to proceed to the first floor..
Parents being senior citizens (just over 60), they were told to sit down and relax and wait for their turn..
A gentleman( an american) came and gave a small demo to all the senior citizens assembled there.. He told them not to worry or get tense.. they will be asking very simple questions.. He also suggested to take a deep breathe and just answer what is asked and they are ready to repeat the questions as many times as requested.
The above impressed my parents a lot.. and when there turn arrived (a separate queue for seniors) , the CO (woman) asked few questions and thats it.. she told the visa will arrive in 3 to 4 bussiness days and to pay the DD in the next counter..
All this happened just more than 1 hr and they were back in the hotel very happy..
Here are few details which may help others...
As sponsor i sent everything i had to..
1> Letter from my employer ( my own format) and the sponsor invitational letter
2> Letter to the consulate from sponsor
3> I-134 affidavits and bank statements
4> W2 and Tax returns( photo copies)
5> photo copies of my H1-B,
Visitor Documents
1> property evaluation affidavit.
2> Bank Pass books ( No verification letter as SBI is on strike)
3> Family tree affidavit (and supporting docs) and few photos of my famliy
4> Pension docs.
All the above were clearly filed with "post it" and separator stickers where ever required..
All the best who have interviews in the future..
Regards
Ram
