  • Visitor VISA from Ukrainian national

    Hello,
I am a UK national and I am regularly travelling to the US at the moment for business purposes under the VWP (ESTA). My wife is a Ukrainian national and is living in the UK on a spouses VISA valid through March 2018 after which it will be extended.
I want to apply for a Visitor VISA so she can join me in the US during my frequent trips but I am unsure how or where she should apply? Surely she does need to apply via the US embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine?

Any guidance that can be offered would be greatly appreciated and I assuming this should be straight forward but if there are any obvious pitfalls it would be good to get a heads up!

    Andrew.

Usually US visa you have to apply from her home country. But she is your spouse and she can extend her UK visa also. So she can apply either from UK or Ukraine. It doesn't matter.
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

Thanks for that. She has applied from the UK and will go for an interview in London in 2 weeks. What is she going to have to take by way of documents?
I would assume; bank statements, payslips, proof of address, marriage certificate. Is anything more than that going to be needed? Reading this forum it sounds like the interviewer seldom looks at any documents you take along anyway... however, given the brief information provided on the DS-160 i cant believe they wont want to check her documents?
