B2 visitor visa granted only for few months - now a days

With current circumstances, is B2 visitor visa granted only for few months(like 1-6 months according to Ds160/interview), and no more for long duration like 1 year or 10 yr (for multiple entries) ?

It will help my Parents-in-law(India) to plan to attend visitor visa interview now, or just couple of weeks before they really plan to travel

That's not true.

They can go for the interview now. So by chance if their visa rejects they can reapply.

That's not true.

My parents got their B2 approved last month for 10 yrs.
