  • Mismatch in Available Dates ..

I have my parents information (DS156 & DS157)online now and not yet
selected the appointment date. I'm looking for earlier date. I'm constantly
watching VFS appointment availability (for any cancellations which might get me an earlier date.)

As you all know current avabl dates are in September...I was checking
the general VFS appointment availability screen (WITHOUT giving passport/HDFC recpt details) and yesterday i saw an avabl date in MAY 2006 ..

then i immediately logged in with actual details(by providing passport/HDFC recpt details), but there in avbl dates screen it still shows september.
I thought someone booked in that few mins time....but when i went back again in general appointment availability screen it shows MAY 2006 ..

So am i missing something here ? how to book for earlier dates that been cancelled by someone..

    PLS HELP.

    ?

as i have mentioned .. after providing actual information and going to available appoint dates screen ... it still shows dates only in SEP 2006.

i also tried scrolling back to MAY 2006 in the calendar, it shows "No dates available"

Do not check the dates from availabilty link it is of no use.

        I posted this earlier here

Go through the "retrieve/modify saved application" link.

Once it shows the calander of September, you can select back arrow "<<" for previous months. I used that but the program exits after 5 or 6 clicks. So you can come back all the way to April and may be back up to May and it exits.

I used a little trick after I come to "May" month I click on "Save Application and Exit" and in the next page click on the "back" button.. Again exit and come back (do not use the browser back button) this allows me to check the dates for little more time than the usual six clicks.

Thanks. I'll try that . Thanks again for your tips.

          But ,

          1) do i need to have a confirmed appointment ( i mean fo i need to first book for some date in september ?) in order to prepone the date ?

          2) lets say i have confirmed appointment. now as you mentioned if i click on
"Reschedule/cancel" appointment link and find a earlier available date.
In order to book for that earlier date ..do i need to delete my existing application and recreate it ? or i can directly select the date ?
(I REMEMBER READING SOMEWHERE , IN ORDER PREPONE WE NEED TO
CANCEL EXISTING APPOINTMENT AND RECREATE THEM AND FOR POSTPONE
WE CAN CHANGE JUST DATES) .. can you (or someone) confirm on this ?

            Hi,

As per VFS website you cannot prepone an existing appointment. You have to cancel it an then take a new appt( which means filling up the forms again, i guess) . What I would suggest is fill up all the forms and save them and keep checking for dates through Retrieve/ Modify link. As soon as you see an earlier date, click it. Thats what I did. Hope this helps.

What he means is that you cannot reschedule online if you have made an appointment physically through one of the 4 VFS centres. You can reschedule if you have applied online.

                  Really dont understand this process!!.
Initially i saved my wifes applicationa and waiting for some earlier dates.I saw one date available on Jun 14 and soon i tried to book the appointment. But while booking i was always taken to the dates available in sep, but if i go back and see the dates by clicking the current availibility link i still see the date in Jun 14.

I thought first time i can get appointment only in sep and booked the appt.
Now i saw a date on may 1 from current availibility link.Soon i went to rescheduling the appt but i was not able to see the May 1.But still that dt is available if we see from current availibity screen.

If we r not able to prepone an appointment and even if we book the fresh appointment by cancelling and we see date earlier in availibity screen then how can anyone ever book the earlier dates???

                  It's a real mystry...

Please anyone let me know how the earlier dates (in my case may1 and jun14) might have booked..iam really getting mad with this system.

                    Hi

I was following this forum for long and I have found it very useful.. Thanks to all.
I recently took appointment for my parents in chennai consulate on jul - 6. I had filled the form long back and was checking for dates continuously and was getting sep -2006, until this time it showed available date as jul - 6. Without any delay clicked on it and got the appointment...

Tips like 'don't go the current avail dates (w/o HDFC receipt no, PP no )', 'save appln and exit - back' were very useful.

All the best for ppl who r still hunting for dates... perseverance is the name of the game.....

                      Hi,

Congratulations on (re-)scheduling your appointment. I have been trying for weeks now to get an appointment for my Mom at Chennai; I always get dates not available message. I am trying language Tamil.

Did you try language Tamil or English?

                      GR

                          Hi,
Ijust wanted to know that some of the members(cool buddy and SNA) have suggested "save application, exit and -back again" which helps one to see the screen for longer. But was any one able to see any new dates with help of it?Are these dates refreshed everytime we go to the screen through "back"?Please help as I have been trying to take an appointment since long.
