  • URGENT! DS 160 mistake, select B1/B2 visa type for inviting parents for graduation

    Hello all,

    I want to invite my parents over for my graduation ceremony in May 2017. In the DS-160 form they selected B1/B2 visa type instead of B2.

    They had paid the fees and scheduled an interview.

    Should they change the visa type to B2 in the DS-160 since they are only coming for tourism and not business? Will it affect the chance of getting a visa?

    If they need to change, how do they make changes to the DS-160 application?

    Please advise!

      I cancelled the interview. Still waiting for feedback from this forum. I'll reschedule it then.

        B1 = Business Visa
        B2 = Tourist Visa

        B1/B2 = Both are combined into one.

        They entered "B1/B2" correctly, as the decision ( of B1 or B2) will be made at her interview, based on their given reasons for visa application.
        This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

          Please post once they are through the interview. I am in a similar situation. Did you send anything from the University to show a graduation ceremony date? Will the consulate trust you assuming you mentioned the intent to graduate in the invitation letter?
          Thanks
