My husband applied for his AP in December 2016. He has not received his AP yet and we are set to travel this Sunday. Is it possible for us to go to immigration and ask for a temporary travel document?

If you already sent the AP request you need to wait for it or else call USCIS and asked them if you can travel to Nebraska to get it there (that is where your AP will be coming from). It took my AP approval 4 months. I applied on Nov 10, 2016 and did not receive it until Feb 27, 2017. Best advice is to cancel your trip or else he won't be able to return.
