I’m a US citizen living in Czech Republic for 10 yrs now.
I met a woman here from Ukraine 7 yrs ago, we’ve been dating for 5 yrs, living together for 3 months.
We are planning a vacation in the US this summer and then returning back to Czech.
I would like to propose during this trip as a surprise…. hopefully she’ll accept ☺ … and marry her there.
I still have some work to do in Czech but we would like to move to the US eventually possibly in 1-2 years.
I’m aware of the existence of K-1 visa but I’m not sure about how long the approval process takes. Chances are we’d have to wait for it not being able to make arrangements with set dates… no good
That’s why I’m considering getting married in the US and then applying for a green card for my new wife.
My question is should I apply during my vacation in the US or after we return back to Czech? Is there a difference? Which way would be faster?
thank you all for input and advice
