Mother got visa at Chennai consulate

Hi All,
My mother got visa at Chennai consulate this morning. My parents visa got rejected in FEB 2006 and I some how managed to get her appointment today in English. Questions asked:

CO: What does your husband do?
Mom: Agriculture

CO: What does your son-in-law do?
Mom: Working as Programmer Analyst at XX

CO: What does your son do?
Mom: Working as Techinical Engineer

CO: Go to counter 1 and pay the fee.

I am so happy that my mom got visa as my due date is approaching and my mom can not speak english fluently. I sent her to English classes and prepared 50 possible questions in English.

Hey Yukta!
Congrats! I need your advice.
My situaation is like this.
I am due in july.I am carrying twins .I want to call my mother from India to help me.My doc has give me a letter stating that she has advised me bed rest which I have sent to India.BUT as everybody says there is no need too mention pregnancy as a purpose of visit so I have told my mom to say that she wants to visit me ann see US as the purpose of visit.My question to you is
1. Is saying tourism and visiting daughter safe reason?
2. I have mentioned in D 156 that she wants to visit for 6 months.IS 6 MONTHS SAFE OR SHOULD I MENTION 3 MONTHS?DO THEY ACCEPT 6 MONTHS FOR TOURISM?
please somebody help,who have already gone through this situation.If my mom is denied visa I will be in big trouble with my twins.

There are some people who have got visa with 6 months request. But in my case my parents have asked for 6 months in first attempt and they got rejected. I think it is always better to say 2 or 3 months. Even though you say 6 months or 2 months they issue the same visa if they have to. In second attempt I mentioned only 2 months.

Co has not seen any documents I sent this time (2nd attempt for my mother except her passport and DS-156). But first time CO saw all the documents I sent.

Did your mom receive her passport. How long did she get the visa for. My MIL who had the appointment on the same day as ur mother, got it for 1yr.

She didn't receive yet. In tracking it shows expected delivery date as April 26th and it is still in transit.

My mother got her passport today and it is stamped for 1 Yr. It was the same lady who interviewed my mother and ur MIL on the same day. I feel I am lucky as I heard a lot about this lady and rejections.BTW, how old is your MIL?
