Parents got visa in Chennai first attempt

My Parents had an interview today that is Apr 21st at 10.30 and their visa has been granted.

Remaining details will know when passport comes.

Hi,

I am glad that my parents visa interview process didnot took long in Chennai.they went in around 10.00 AM and came out by 11.15 AM.
And the interview offcer was polite and asked only few questions:

1.How many children do you have?

2.He asked my father to show my husband's visa,employer letter and invitation letter.

3.And as my mother is govt employee,he just asked her
when she is going to retire?thats all.he didnt even ask her NOC letter.

4.He asked my father about who are living with u?
when he told that myself,my wife and old mother,he asked who will take care of your mother when U go to USA?

Thats it!! He asked them to pay the fees at the counter and informed that visa is granted and passport will arrive in 2 to 3 days.

We will know the remaining details when they get their passports.

Do you have any siblings in India? Just curious. I noticed that recently officers are not asking if all children are in the US yada yada yada. Looks like they don't care about it any more. What do you guys think?

Folks this is a testing period. Consulates are vigilant on **** information by applicants. If the applicants are genuine simplification will continue. If large number of misrepreseting facts it may go back to the previous mode.

Question: I have read over the USA Affadavit of Support and the instructions the language did not ring clear whether the sponsor must be a relative or friend. My question is: as a US citizen can I sponsor my girlfriends mother and sister?

applicant's sponsor doesn't have to be a relative.

They may know how many children are in US by looking at DS156 and for in India… I think they know by questioning applicants.
