Tourist Visa extension due to medical reasons

Hello,
My niece came to US few months ago on tourist visa.Though she has multi entry visa but current visa is expiring on August 20. She got admitted into emergency room last month and has been diagnosed with a rare kind of disease and is scheduled to stem cell transplant at the end of August. According to doctor treating her, she needs to stay atleast additional 6 months here. Could someone please let me know what is the procedure for applying for 6 month extension and what supporting documents we need to provide? Do we need to approach an attorney for assistance or it is a straight forward case? please let me know

Thanks, I could not find I-94 info of my niece online and appears that at the port of entry they came as family and my aunt entered her name and added her daughter as family. Just wanted to make sure that we need to submit separate forms. Any thoughts

Each person should have an I-94. Maybe they spelled the name differently or had a typo in the passport number. Contact CBP for assistance if it still cannot be found.
