  • Visiting Canada/Mexico whilst on B1/B2 visa

    Hi all,

am on a B1/B2 visa valid until late October 2017 and wondered if anyone could help me.

    1) I am considering visiting Canada, and from my reading it seems that visits to Canada and Mexico are allowed for 'up to 30 days'.

It doesn't, however, explain what happens if I want to stay longer than 30 days..

Q: Can anyone tell me, if I was to visit Canada for 2 months, could I still return to the USA on my B1/B2?

    2) Also, I understand that visits to CAnada and MExico don't usually count for the purposes of leaving the US, and won't count as a new B1/B2 visa.
Q: Is this STILL the case if I remain in Canada for 2 months and then return to the US?

    3) If I was to go to Canada for the last part of my B1/B2 and my visa expired while I was in Canada, is there a length of time I could stay in Canada that will mean I can re-enter on a new B1B2 entry from Canada?

    4) Alternatively, could I still transit from Canada through the US to fly back to Australia? (which is home).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Lpg

I believe travelling to Canada will be leaving the US and you will need the appropriate documents to enter and/or stay in Canada.

Find out if you need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visitor visa
