  • Tourist Visa for my mom, 3rd attempt

    Hello all

I am trying for my mother's visa third time. The first time i attempted was Feb, 2005 and second time was June 2005. Both the time she was not asked much questions and they rejected her under section 214B.

My mother is not fluent in English and both the time I had translator.

My mother is a single parent and she was working in the office section in a hospital. She is not working for last two years and she has marked herself as housewife in ds156. I am sponsoring my mother's Visa and my only sibiling - my brother is also in US.

With the help of a senator I did an enquiry to Chennai counsulate and they replied back saying the immigration officer felt my mother does not have enough financial ties to the home country. They also indicated that my mother did not convince the officer in her talks that she is coming to US for tourism. As I said earlier, my mother is not fluent in English and that could be one of the reason which officer found difficult. My mother has the documents from Bank showing enough financial ties that she has, but seems like the officer didnt look into those papers. He just said she doesnt have enough financial ties to home country and rejected her visa.

My assignment here in US is on a projetc basis and I was back in India in August,2005. I came back to US Jan 2006 and now I have booked appointment for my mother again. The date of interview is June 6th.

Please suggest me what more should I do or what I shouldnt do so that my mother's chance of getting visa is more.

Will appreciate any piece of advice in this regard.

    Thanks
    GS

Even though Senator's letter cannot affect in decision making of issuing visa, she can reattend with more facts and provide strong ties. System is new now and eligible candidates will be granted visas.
