  • Chennai appointment

    Hello,
I am trying to schedule an appt for my parents in chennai. I see they have dates around in Sep/Oct currently. I filled out both forms and saved the apps expecting that I would schedule them as soon as I find the earliest feasible date. yesterday I was running the dates and I see the regular date-finder shows Sep 7th open, while when I try to schedule after retrieving the saved apps, it never shows up that date, it only shows Oct dates. I tried this several times, but somehow its not in sync. Am I missing something here or is it a bug in vfs system? What would be best approach to get an appointment like this (without going thru filling the long application)..any help is welcome.

thank you guys for this great website..keep up the good work.

    hi,
i understand the following from my friend who went thro the same thing recently.

1.u have to cancel the exisiting appt and only then u can schedule another one.

    2. when u do so (in case of visitor visa) they do not let u prepone/advance the date even tho u can see the dates there .I heard that those dates are for H-1/H-4 people stamping ,tho i am not very sure about the latter.

    3. my friend cancelled the june appt she had(in chennai consulate) and went for a May date. She couldn't do and now she has a sept date.

Unfortunately, there is no written statement in the official website about preponing the Visitor visa.

so i guess u r better off with the exisiting dates and make sure that u can prepone before cancelling the exisiting date

    all the best !

Thanks for the insight. One more thing is can you pre-pone to a date earlier than you have it scheduled for as a part of your on-time-reschedule process. I thought I heard somewhere that you can only postpone "not pre-pone" using the reschedule process. Please clarify.

        Hi ,
Yes,I did mention that you can't prepone ,the visa being a Tourist visa(previously people were able to do it,but since the last month,They stopped that and i understand thro my friend that people who have a tourist visa appt trying to reschedule looking at an earlier slot not only end up not getting that earlier date but also land up getting a new date which is later than the original one..

suppose u have an appt in chennai for Oct 1 now, u see that there is a slot for July 7, and u cancel the oct 1..this is what happens.u wil not be able to get the july 7 and depending on what is the current dates for chennai(now oct 16)u might end up at a date later than oct 1 .U can ask one more q,since u have just canc oct 1, that date would be showing on the screen ,but it takes sometime for the system to release your info on forms..so u won't be able to get that old date of yours too..

i am saying all these 'coz my friend went thro this just a month back .so please find out if someone has rescheduled a tourist visa appt in the last one month and then go ahead..
All the best in getting your parents here!

also if anyone has rescheduled tourist visa appt (after april 1,2006),please let us know so that it would be helpful for all the others who r trying to do it..

I am writing this 'coz i do not want anyone to get disappointed by rescheduling a tourist visa appt. Please beware of this situation before u reschedule..

anyone, correct me if i am wrong
