Administrative Processing, Form 221g, Passport returned for B2 Visa

Hi,

My mother and I had applied for B2, (Tourist) Visa for visiting my sister who is currently in US on an H1B Visa. I am currently working in Hyderabad and my mother is a housewife. Our interview was scheduled on 19-July-17 at Hyderbad Consulate office.. Interview was quite normal. At the end they informed my mother that her visa was approved, while I was handed back my passport along with a white Form 221-g. The checkbox for Visa under Administrative Processing was ticked on the form.

I received an e-mail with a questionnaire later in the day which I have filled and submitted back and they have acknowledged receipt of same.

How long would the processing take? What are the chances of my Visa getting approved?

Processing times vary all the time. It would be at least a few weeks.

Whether the visa gets approved or not really depends upon why it went in administrative processing and what they find from it.

I haven't been asked to submit any documents. I was only asked to fill and submit a questionnaire which asked details of my previous overseas travels, family details, social media profile details, job and address and contact details for last 5 years. They also returned my passport. I am really confused as to what this implies? Moreover my mother's visa has already been processed and this has jeopardised our travel plans.

Hi I had my interview on the 18 July 2017 and was given the 221g as well . My status updated for the first time after 18 on the 25 and then on the 26 it said issues and I got my visa on the 27 . They had already taken my passport tho . Hopefully yours happens soon as well

Did you hear anything about your visa.....i had also applied for my and my two children b2 visa...my children are aged 10 and 8. The interview was on 19 july at Mumbai consulate....the interview was simple and at the end of the interview they informed me that my and my 10 year old son visa is approved but my daughter visa is in administrative processing and they returned her passport. There are no documents to be submitted just waiting to hear from them....I don't understand why a minor visa is in administrative processing.....
