Hi Guys,
I'm current a green card holder through marriage. My husband and I married February last year. I want my parents to come over for the holidays and my sister since she is only 16 yrs old and still in school, so I'm thinking the likelihood of her being approved is high because of she's still a student.
My father recently retired as a Ship Captain (so he's been in and out of America and has never overstayed) and is now starting a business and my mother is a housewife/businesswoman. They have a lot of real estate properties. I have 2 brothers back home (both 24 yrs old), 1 is doing an post-grad internship as a doctor and one actually applied for an H-1B, got picked out the lottery as a Physical Therapist but the application is still pending because of credential evaluation.
I was thinking that it is better if my mom applies and my sister because my sister technically has a better proof that she will come back to the Philippines (home country) and my mother because her husband is at home and have 2 more sons. My husband, who is Caucasian and a US Citizen will be filing for an affidavit of support for both of them. He has a very good job with a good pay, works for a big corporation and has the government as a client. (Although, I don't think it is necessary to put that the government is his client on the form). He also has stocks investments, a good 401k and has good tax return history. I work for a nonprofit as part-time with decent paycheck but his is obviously better that's why he's filing for the affidavit of support.
Please also note that my mom with my brother (who was 22 that time) applied before and got rejected. Their reason for the application was to come for my graduation (I was previously a F-1 visa holder, but never overstayed and was never involved in any illegal activities.)
I wanted my dad to apply as well but it seems to risky if both of the apply together with my sister since my dad just retired. That's why we'll sponsor my mom and sister to show the consulate that they have the sufficient resources to come visit America.
My questions are: What do you think is the likelihood of my mom and sister to get approved? Is it better if my dad applies with them and we wont sponsor them? Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance!
