  • Child B2 visa

    Hi

I hope someone can help me? I'm English living in Thailand with Thai wife who has UK passport and we would like to take wifes daughter to the USA She has thai passport so needs to do B2 visa ok but it states parent needs to have B2 visa too why? as with 2 UK passports we don't need the B2's to go to US , hope that makes sense.

You should be able to apply for a B2 visa for her alone.

Why doesn't she get a British passport too?

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Under those facts she would not be a UK citizen only if the mother was a citizen by decent. If the mother was a citizen by other than decent, then the child would be a citizen by decent

We are always looking for alternatives to a B2 Visa because the odds are stacked against applicants

Have you tried applying for the visa on the CEAC website?

Yes i have that's why i have asked this question, Does the parent who holds a british passport need to do B2 too as that's what it says on there, Here's what it says:

For applicants who are 13 years old or younger, do you confirm the following statements?
At least one of my parents or legal guardians currently has a valid B1/B2 Tourist/Business U.S. Visa

My parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are not Legal Permanent Residents of the U.S.

For applicants who are 80 years old or older, please answer ”Yes”.

E-mail US consulate with your question. The system will only allow you to answer yes to this question and none of you has a valid B1/B2 visa because you don`t need one. If you just answer yes, maybe you can proceed and explain in the interview but the risk is that you have to re-start the process and pay it again.

The comments about the child citizenship were all valid as people here are looking for the best for the child and her future.
