Appointment dates - Online vs. at Consulate

I am trying to schedule a visa appointment for parents at the Mumbai consulate. As others may have noticed, the current available dates are in October. Does anybody know if one can get earlier dates by applying in person at the consulate? Any recent personal experiences?

whether through vfs ceter or vfsonline appointments are done through the same way. There is no short cut method.
