  • H-4 stamping help needed deciding the consulate

    Hello,
I will be travelling to India in June/July .My GC is going on now and i would be needed anytime here in the US during july/august.

1.My address on passport is chennai address, however my last H-4 (in 2000) was issued in Delhi(because of my husband's address)

Now can i go to any of the four consulates for stamping?I read the following from the official VFs website

"Indian citizens resident in the USA and applying for a new visa to replace an expiring visa can request an appointment at any of the four visa sections. "

I have a valid 797 till feb 2007 and all I need is stamping on my passport .
Experts, can u please advice if i can go to any consulate and also do i have to send the documents by courier to consulate (i understand from the website that it is only in the case of Mumbai)

please help, has anyone gone for H-4 stamping in any other consulate other than native place/place in passport?

    thanks in advance,

the VFS site says that u have to cancel the previous appointment and book the new one,but they don't say if i can book in another place.

if u hear/see any cases/links please let me know.i have the recpt no now ready to book the appointment..i shall wait for another 12 hours for booking..

hope this gets clear before that
          thanks,
