Please help - Duration of stay

Hello everyone,

My parents have an appointmnet for visitor visa at chennai consulate next month.
We want them to stay here in US for SIX months. If the consulate officer ask them for how many months they want to be in united states , what should they answer? 3months or 6 months. If they say 6 months will it be a problem ?

We are worried, if they say 3 months they might be granted visa for only 3 months. Really confused, pls help

I-94 duration of stay for Visitor Visa

I was told yesterday (29 April 2006) by a border guard that everyone is now given 6 months at their port of entry. It may depend on where you are a citizen, however, as I specified from an eastern european country.

Ive always received 6 months at POE (Indian citizen).

Ive never stayed for 6 months though. Ive always told them exactly how long im going to be staying, depending on how long im going to be staying .

Ah but I notice theyre going to the visa appointment. Frankly, I guess they should say about a month. 6 months is a long time to stay. At Point of Entry theyll get 6 months anyway regardless of the visa.

When I went for my visa interview last year, I said that I was going for a month. Also, Id gone for a visa interview in 99.. I said 2 weeks then.
