  • Waiver recommended but status online says "refused" + multiple entry question

    Hi!

I was at an interview at the Embassy today, and was recommended for a waiver which I need to be issued a B2-visa (got the pink sheet with ticked box for Embassy will recommend... and so forth). During the interview the CO asked what the purpose for my trip was, and I answered vacation next summer. The thing is that maybe, just maybe, if I receive the visa in time, I will join my sister on a trip with another POE and another date than the one listet in the DS160. I know that that isn't a problem in itself (that the dates and POE doesn't match DS160), but my question is; since my last visa was multiple entry, will this one, if issued, also be? Or could me just mentioning one trip trigger a single entry visa? Last time I was issued a visa I also only mentioned one trip, and was issued a multiple entry B1/B2.. So should I send an email to embassy explaining that a multiple entry visa is preferred, or should I just wait?

And; the CEAC online status check says "refused".. Heard that it can take a couple of days before it updates to "Administrative processing". Is this right?

    Thanks!

Your understanding is correct for the Administrative processing. You can wait for 5-7 business days.

You don't need to send an e-mail. Mostly you will get multiple entry but sometime it depends on visa officer also.
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

      Ahh, ok, thanks

It's been 5 business days now, still says refused. But I guess it'll change soon.

Ok, then I'll just cross my fingers for another multiple entry, even though I only mentioned one trip at the interview. Thanks for the reply!

Been two months as of today. Still says refused.. Should I be worried or is this regular until they actually treat my case?

Visa status "refused" sounds correct, at least until the 212(d)(3) waiver is approved

Agree. Just different than the last time. It said "administrative processing" from day one then.

The visa now has status "issued"!

Should I send an email to the embassy to explain that travel plans now have changed 3 months, and even to a different POE, or is it fine as long as it is multiple entry?

Would be a bummer to go to FL in march/april and get questioned a lot for why I changed from CA in July..

Visa received yesterday, 5 years multiple entry!

Then I reckon I don't have to send an email to the embassy explaining that the plans from DS160 and interview is changed..?
