Purpose of Visit

Hi,

My parents are going to chennai consulate in the month of august. Can I specify the purpose of visit as tourism, visit daughter & celebrate christmas. Will `celebrating christmas' be considered a good reason ?

If my parents want to self sponsor, how much amt sould they show in their a/c ?

Self financing need very good finance in India say 15-20 lakhs?

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I have one more question. If my parents go for self financing & show Rs.15 lacs in their SB A/c apart from other deposits & properties, Will it be sufficient or they have to show more i.e. around 20 lacs ? WHen do they have to deposit 15 lacs in their sb a/c ? should be as early as 1 month before the appointment date or just 1 week before appointment date ?

Advice accordingly.

Bank statement for the last few months (~6months) is one of the required documents, so depositing huge amounts into account may not help
