Prepone appointment chennai consulate - Help

Could Anybody prepone appointment successfully thru VFS website? In appoinment availability screen it shows dates in July and September, but when I try to confirm the appointment it always shows date from mid October. Is it possible at all to get an earlier appointment date? I just do not understand why it shows ealier dates in the avaialability screen.

u can no longer prepone appts to an earlier date (as said under the Frequently asked questions in the vfs site)u have to cancel the exisiting one and book on another date .Unfortunately,u can't do this for a tourist visa appt,(if for an earlier date)but only for H visas(H-1,H-4).that's the reason u are able to see the dates available on the screen,but when u say for tourist visa, it will not show the previous dates but only the current dates (october in chennai).

so please make sure thro someone who have cancelled and rebooked at an earlier date (after april 2006 ,previously we were able to do it)for a tourist visa and then go ahead with the cancelleation .O/w u lose the exisiting date too..be careful before u do it.I am pretty much sure that u can't prepone a tourist visa appt, to put in a nutshell..

i just rebooked my H-4 appt to an earlier date (i did this a week ago)by cancelling and rebooking .so i am pretty sure u can do for a H- visa and not for a tourist visa.
