I am sponsoring a friend to come to the US from Ecuador. I have a few questions.

    1. If I can't find my birth certificate, can I just use a copy of my Passport?
    2. Can I just send my W2's or do I also need to send my tax returns. If so, which page of my tax returns? There are a lot!
    3. Although I trust the friend I am bringing, I'm still nervous to send all my personal information to a 3rd world country. Is it safe? Has anyone had a bad experience or their identity stolen?
    4. Any other advice? I believe I have everything else needed.

    1. Usually birth certificate required to prove relation. You are sponsoring your friend so copy of passport should work.
    2. You have to send copy of W2s and tax returns both. If you don't have then you can request transcripts from IRS using a form 4056.
    3. You can send by FedEx. Please read FAQ below: https://www.immihelp.com/faq-for-spo...visitors-visa/

    List of sponsor documents:
USA Tourist Visa - Comprehensive information about the documents the sponsor of a visitor visa needs to send. Discuss any questions regarding sponsoring visitor visas in our discussion forum.

Chances of visa approval is very slim but there is no harm to try.
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

Out of curiosity, why do you say chances are slim? Anything we can do or prove to increase her probability? I have known her my entire life, she is 12 years younger than I am so she's been like a little sister. We have pictures of her and I since she was a baby that we plan to bring to prove I'm not just a random person she doesn't know. She's a college student and got a letter from the school proving that she is enrolled and plans to return to finish her degree.
