basic question about visitors visa.

Friends -

Say they grant someone a 6 months visa. Do they also specify a date before which the applicant must travel and make use of the visa? If visa gets granted today for 6 months, can the applicant travel a few months or a year later?

One more question: Do they give 5 or 10 years multiple entry visa these days or they grant visa only for that exact duration mentioned in DS-156? Is it Okay if mom asks for multiple entry visa or is that not advisable?

Visa will have issue date and expiry date, so the one has to travel before that date.

Visa period is always decided by VOs. I dont think we can request for anything
