  • Applying for tourist visa (b1/b2)

    Hi,
I’m a 19 year old college student from India who is currently doing engineering. As my college semester is ending and we will be having winter vacations, My family has planned to visit USA for the vacations. My parents have properties, good income and relatives in India. This shows that they have strong ties with the country. My dad is sponsoring the trip and this will be our first time going to USA . I’m just a college student who has no income or property of his own, just family and friends. Moreover, I was born and brought up in India only. Will this be enough to show that I have strong ties with my country?
Also, my interview is 15 days before we are going so even if i get rejected, will there be sufficient time for me to apply again ?

As each person applies for their own individual visa, your parents strong ties to home country will not be considered as yours. You are young and family outside of immediate family meaning spouse and children or a parent who is dependent on you do not usually suffice as strong ties. The fact that you are traveling with family may help, but all you can do is apply. It is up to the VO if they feel like you are an immigration risk. You would probably not have time to reapply.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
