Restricted Area Permit with e-visa - Andaman Islands

I am in the process of applying for an e-visa to visit India and have recently learnt that Andaman Islands are in a 'restricted area'.

I have received conflicting advice regarding whether it is possible to obtain a Restricted Area Permit upon arrival at Port Blair airport when travelling with an e-visa.

Please can you let me know from your experience, how international travellers are able to obtain the necessary access permit to visit Andaman Islands when travelling with an e-visa?
