  • Unemployed mother as my B1/B2 sponsor and a duration of stay mismatch

I have a bit of a soupy issue.
My father has a government job that pays his well and works as a civil engineering lecturer. Mother is a homemaker but has IT returns showing 3 lacs per annum income on paper from her agricultural lands. She has a few properties in her name.

My dad wouldn't sponsor my Visa because he doesn't like his secrets being let out because of some family issues. So I chose my mom as a sponsor, she made 15 lacs as fixed desposits to show financial support. There is no proof that my dad is a civil engineer or any documentation from his end. I am a graduate medical student who needs to visit the US to take an exam called USMLE step 2 CS that happens over one day, visiting on a B1/B2 visa. I have a job but mentioned 1 month as intended duration of stay in the DS160. How can I explain myself that I would return back to India, while no employer can grant me leave for such a length as big as 1 month? What kind of questions can I expect with all these problems that make my application look bad?

    Trvael dates: 20 Feb 2018 - 20 March 2018

Kindly help, I'm really worried and my Visa interview is on December 4th, 2017.

    Thank you.

For visitor visa sponsorship, your mother can't deposit lot of money all of sudden, visa officer wants ongoing income.

Your visa approval will be tough but try your luck. Be honest and let visa officer decide.

Visa approved! Here is what I did

I want to thank the creators of ImmiHelp, your website and forums have been immensely helpful to me.

Job played a major role is what i believe, but none of the documents were checked, while I had 3 big folders.
I cancelled my appointment and refilled the entire DS 160 with mention of distant relatives and an updated duration of stay as 2 weeks as I realised my HRD would not grant me leave for 1 month. Got an appointment for both OFC and IV a week later. On the day of my interview, rejections were on a roll, trust me. All I could hear was 214Bs going off at specific counters and I was worried about it.
When it was my turn, the guy before me was rejected as well and the anxiety would'nt go away at all! Not many questions were asked, and i did fumble here and there trying to recover from the rejection anxiety coupled with a shady application (dad would not sponsor for whatever reason).

But I explained all questions asked and also mentioned I would be applying for my residency (not "resident" in the USA, but medical post graduation is referred to as "residency" in the US) the next year for which I regretted immediately as to why i said something as controversial as that, but it was the truth.

And then he said my visa was approved, hopefully guessing it is a multiple entry long duration visa as i did mention my future plans.
