Hi everyone,
My sister, brother-in-law and niece got visitor's visa today at Chennai . My niece is 15 years old so I wasn't very sure if she would get the visa but she got it. It looks like all the preparation paid off. I sent them a set of possible questions tailored to each of them and most of the questions VO asked were covered.
The appointment was at 1:45 pm. They were at the consulate by 12:30 pm and were called in at 1:15 pm.
They had a problem at the counter inside because of passport photographs. They rejected the photographs and asked them to take fresh ones. There is a photo studio near the consulate so it wasn't a problem to get new photos. They didn't have to wait in line again and could get in by 2:00 pm.
Their token number was called around 4:00 pm and the VO assigned was a middle-aged American.
I sent all sponsorship documents but the VO did not ask for them. My B-I-L prepared extensive documentation too but the VO saw very little. He was more interested in establishing credibility by asking questions. Since my B-I-L has a chartered accountancy firm and he employs many people it must have helped.
The VO asked about 4 or 5 questions to each of them. The interview was for about 7 minutes. It seems the VO was very friendly and my folks were also all smiles while talking. If you need more details or info about specific questions you can ask and I will post them.
Thanks to immihelp.com for providing all the valuable information.
