Parents got visa second time in Mumbai
My parents got visa successfully on 11th May at Mumbai Consulate. It was their first visa interview. But they were going for visa for a second time. They already had got a visa 4 years back for 6 months.
Appointment was at 11 but was delayed by 1.5 hours. After that they waited for 4 hours before their number was called out. My parents were worried lest their number should have been called and they could have missed it. So they confirmed with the staff and she told them not to worry and said that their number will be called and it will be announced 3-4 times. My mom does not know English very well and the lady had arranged for an interpreter for her. I guess thats why it took so long.
They did not ask for a single document except the I-134. But my parents were prepared with ALL the documents.
Questions asked were-
Oh, you have already been to the USA before...
1. What is your son doing?
Working with xxx, in yyy city.
2. Since how long has he been in the USA.
Since 6 years and been with this employer since xxx years.
3. How many children do you have?
x sons and y daughters. Staying in India in z city.
4. How much pension do you earn?
Rs. xxxx per month.
5. Is your son married?
Yes.
6. When did your son marry?
So and so date.
7. What is his wife doing?
She is a xxxx. But currently on H4 visa.
Your visa is granted!
My Mom was not asked a single question. Interpreter translated all questions in our language, but my Dad answered all of them directly in English since he was comfortable with English. VO was an American.
