Can a student get his parents on B-2?

Hi,

I am a student and would like to get my parents to US on visitor's visa. What is the best approach? Mainly, the idea of a student being able to sponsor the visit is a bit unconvincing to me. I could find the list of documents that people on H1 can send, but not sure about a student's. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sponsor should be an earning person and applicant can self sponsor

If your parents have good enough income or assets ask them to sponsor themselves. My inlaws sponsored themselved when my husband was still on F1 and just a student without any income.
In that case you do not need to send w2 or taxreturns or any of those documents.
They can show their source of income/assests in india property good bank balance (about 10-12 lakhs) since the us trip would cost them around 1-2 lakhs they should show where the money is going to be coming from!

Thanks SuCo, VisaChief. My parents will sponsor themselves as per your information. Is it advisable for them to reveal their purpose of visit as visiting a student son (in which case should i send my I20 copy etc?) or is it better for them to say they just want to visit the US?
