  • Please help!! B2 visa holder, marrying US citizen, also in need of F1...

hello there, we are in a bit of a strange situation and it would be great to hear your thoughts.

I'm a US citizen, and my fiancee is Russian.
He holds a 3 yr B1 multi-entry visa to the US that was issued a year ago.

He has been accepted to an MBA program in the US which starts summer 2018, and will be needing a student visa.

We are trying to figure out the most sensible time and place to marry so he could 1) still get his F1 visa, 2) come to the States a few months before school starts to, among other personal things, hop on my health insurance to see a specialist doctor. We are not prioritizing his green card application at this time.

is it possible to come to the States, get married & see the doctor and then either change his visa to F1 or come back to Moscow and apply to the F1?

If we don't initiate any green card / adjustment of status applications, will he be in trouble?

Can he still apply for a F1 visa from Russia even when he's married to a citizen?

Alternatively, we could get married here in Moscow and then go to the States - will he be able to enter the country on the B1 he already holds? We won't have time to apply for a spouse visa.

    Thank you!!!!!
