My MIL went to Chennai consulate for a B2 early may. She's a windower and depends on her son, living in Bangalore; not much property. While filling the DS-156, I have mistakenly checked YES to "Has anyone ever filed an Immigrant Petiton for you". The officer asked (thru interpreter) questions like:
- do you have any fights with your daughter-in-law in India ?
- do you intend to come back
etc. And they rejected it.
Now, we were fortunate to get another date in mid-May and went again. THis time, I was careful in filling the form and also attached a covering letter explaining the mistake and other reasons why she is simply visiting (daughter, grand daughter, tourism) and why she would come back. They asked her:
- why did u come back after recent rejection?
Even before she was about to explain about the GC application mistake, they asked,
- do your folks in US have GC.
She said yes (which is true) and immediately the interpreter herself stamped a rejection. The whole process was rushed and rude. We are very frustrated and disappointed.
Does it make sense to re-apply for third time? I have heard of a few other rejections when women went alone in Chennai. Any advice would be appreciated.
