  • Group interview for family - language query

    Hi

My mother and brother plan to appear for the B-2 visa interview together. My brother is fluent in English while mother is not.
Which language should they choose for the interview? Will my brother be allowed to translate for my mother?

    Thank you.

U.S. Consulates will provide translators for local languages, for no fee (that I am aware). In the U.S., for immigration-related interviews, it is an entirely different matter, and one is allowed to bring in a paid professional speaker of the applicant's language.

Relatives are not generally allowed to accompany as translators.
