I am a Canadian citizen recently moved to Chicago on my husband's work L1 visa with my daughter. My brother has been in US with his family for 10 yrs & a Green card holder.
Recently our mom's visitor visa was rejected under Sec.214b. We are shocked about it as she has never over-stayed in her previous visits, our dad still works in Chennai, not retired & they have sufficient property & bank balance to support ties in India.
I need ideas on how to coach my Mom for the next time interview & also what else can we provide as additional proof for Indian ties.

May I know what questions they asked your Mum?

      Who lives in US
      Daughter & Son

      What are their statuses
Son is green card holder & daughter is canadian citizen just moved on L1 visa

      Where do they live
      New jersey & Chicago

Who do you have in India? Any other kids?
No, just my husband. He works there

Is he travelling with you this time?
No, he doesn't always because he is working. This time he is not?

And then took a long time on the computer & rejected

According to those questions, I guess the V/O does not believe your mum gonna come back to India because both kids are in the U.S.
"Who do you have in India? Any other kids?" this question is a bit tricky. Your mum might show more bona fide relationship and "not retired & they have sufficient property & bank balance in India", NOT just your dad.
"Is he travelling with you this time?" this question the V/O might have doubts on your Mum. How come your dad is not traveling with your Mum this time if before your dad did?

That's weird because the fact that my dad still works in India & is not travelling with her proves that she is bound to return for him. Those who are already retired from work in India are bound to settle in US. Something doesn't jive.

So how do we prepare her for the next time? Any suggestions?
Also how soon can she re apply?
