  • US Visa on the Basis of Divorce Documents Served

    hi,
    I am in India.
My Green Card just Got Expired in February.
My Husband Filed a Divorce in California and I got served from Court through Mail.

    My Question is :
Can I get US Visa to Appear in court on the basis of Divorce Documents served to me ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards

Attending court proceedings is a reasonable use of a B-2 tourist visa. That said, B visas are issued sparingly, and they will question the strength of your ties to your home abroad.

Also, I'm not sure you're *not a permanent resident*. Sure, your green card is expired. But more than likely, that doesn't change whether you are (or you are not) a lawful permanent resident of the United States.

Keep in mind that you likely will not have to be personally present in court for any part of your divorce proceedings. It is an administrative matter and both you & your spouse have employed agents to handle it
