  • Appointment confirmation - To do or Not to do?

    Hi,
I am trying to take a visa appointment for my parents. I have the online application filled out and ready. However, the earliest available dates are in November. Should I go ahead and take an appointment or should I keep checking and see if any dates free up before that, say in Aug or Jul? I have been checking continuously for an earlier date but none seem to be free.
Is there any restriction in the system that the first appointment can be made only on the available dates and only when we try to reschedule do the other (earlier) dates be visible?
Do you see any pattern as to when the earlier dates are visible? I mean when is it a good time to look for earlier available dates - US day time or night time?
Any hints, advices are appreciated. Looking forward for some guidance.

      Got an earlier interview date!

Well.. I waited for some time and continously watched for an earlier date. After a week's wait I was able to get a date in September.
One more question for the seniors on this forum:
How can I prepone the appoinment further? As per the VFS FAQs, I will have to cancel the existing appointment and reapply. If lucky, I may get an earlier date. Otherwise, I could loose what I have currently. Hence it's risky.
If I cancel the appointment do I have fill in the DS 156 and 157 again or can I use what I have filled already.

If anybody has preponed the interview date, please let me know the procedure.

      Thanks,
      N

Yes, you have to fill again... all the data in DS156 and 157 is lost once you cancel the appointment.

I did the same thing ...

I kept all the forms filled and ready. No dates were available before mid-nov. I kept checking for more than a week until a stroke of luck hit and I got an opening in July !!! Couldn't have asked for anything better. I was hoping to get something in September actually.

So for others who want earlier dates, do not get an appointment date right away after filling in all the forms. If you wait and keep checking continuously you might get lucky and get an earlier opening. Remember once you have filled in the forms you have 30 days to get an appointment date after which the forms will be automatically deleted. So technically you can keep checking for better dates for at least 3 weeks before giving up.

Best of luck to all those trying for an earlier date !

              What happens after 30 days...

Do you have to fill in a new form and keep on trying or do you just loose your 100$.

Also if you do not get a regional language appointment can you grab an english one and ask for a translator!

I am trying to get something before Nov 4th
